Simple Tips & Tricks to Save Money for Travel

You have to set the intention and stick with it.

Start by writing down your goal for travel for the year.

  • Where do you want to go?

  • What do you want to do?

  • What is your dream vacation?

Do something inspiring with this information. An example would be to change your screensaver to a photo of the destination you have in mind. That way every time you look at your device your goal is looking back at you. This will inspire you to stick to your plan.

Plan Your Budget

Track what you spend. Start by going through your bank statements and write down everything you spend by category. Needs, Wants and Savings. This will blow your mind on how much you actually spend. Do you see places where you can save? When you are shopping ask yourself "What category does this purchase belong in'? Is it want or a need or does that money belong in your savings? Tip: Put what you would have spent into your savings and watch it grow.

Below is the rule of 50-30-20.

Needs (50% of monthly income)

Wants (30% of monthly income)

Savings (20% of monthly income)

Open a Savings Account

Open a savings account where you can do online transfers from your checking to your savings. Some banks even offer to round your purchase up to the nearest dollar and put the change in savings.

Watch You Gas Mileage

Gas is a huge monthly expense for almost everyone. Most everyone has a Miles Per Gallon (MPG) display on the dash that shows your current MPG and your overall MPG. Play a game with you MPG. Can you get it higher than the last time you drove?

Cook at Home

Meal Prep and even pack a lunch. Your wallet and body will thank you for it.

Sell What You Don't Need or Use

Do you have a room or two you've been needing to go through and declutter? How about a garage? Do you have stuff in your closet that doesn't fit and just taking up room? Turn that clutter into travel money and feel accomplished at the same time.

Hire a Travel Advisor
